Do you need a Sibling Doula?
Sibling doulas are on-call support people who are available 24/7 to take care of your older children when you go into labor.
If your family is expecting baby number two or three, and you’re stressed out because you haven’t figured out who will watch your older kids while you’re in labor, you might be looking for a Sibling Doula.
People hire Sibling Doulas for any number of reasons. Some don’t have friends or relatives nearby who are willing or able to come babysit for an unknown period of time. Others are planning to have their older child with them in labor at home or in the hospital, but want to make sure that there’s an adult who is there just for them.
Maybe you just don’t want to be worrying about whether or not your 70-year-old mother will be able to handle your two-year-old for an unknown period of time!
Anna, Aimee, and Alyson all work as Sibling Doulas, and two of them will pair up to work with each family. This allows us to be flexible with our schedules and ensure that your kids are always being well taken care of. Because all three of us are also birth doulas, we will be able to help your children understand what’s happening in an age-appropriate way.
At least one doula from your team will stay for the duration of your labor – whether that’s three hours or three days – until either you, your partner, or another agreed upon adult can return and be back in “parent mode.”
Stellar Sibling Support
$400 + $30/hr
Together, your doulas will provide:
- A free consultation to help you determine if our team is the right fit for your family.
- One prenatal “Play Date” so that your children can get to know the Doulas, and we can go over their individual needs and routines. (1-2 hours).
- Professional and comprehensive Sibling Doula support, as well as backup support, to provide in-home childcare for the duration of your labor.
- One 4-hour Postpartum Doula session. (daylight only, $140 value)
Please note that there is a charge of $50 for every additional child under 12, up to a maximum of $200.
